Failing to comply with IATA DGR mandates can result in transit incidents, rejected shipments, civil penalties, and carrier blacklisting. Training violations carry a minimum $481 daily fine per person. DGR training online ensures that employees understand DGR regulations, the different classification of dangerous substances, and how to avoid adverse hazardous materials incidents.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is an international trade organization that represents approximately 230 airlines from 126 countries. IATA training focuses on how to safely transport hazardous materials by air in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
Dangerous goods regulations training is required for any employee involved in the packing, marking, labeling, shipping, loading, transporting, or accepting of hazardous materials and dangerous goods for shipment by air. Employees cannot complete any functions associated with air shipment of dangerous goods until they have successfully completed IATA certification training, online or in-person.
Many dangerous goods can be transported safely by air if the articles or substances are packed properly and quantities are limited. However, if they are not controlled, the hazardous properties of these dangerous goods could adversely affect the safety of the crew, passengers, or aircraft on which they are transported. Depending on the severity of the hazard, any incidents caused by shipping dangerous goods could also affect the nearby communities and the environment.
